welcome to my art side
Hi there! I'm Tomasz and I make art. Not a lot of it, because my full time job at the moment is programming... but I still do make as much as I can of it.
I haven't went to any art school although I took few months of drawing lessons (and other than that I learned through YT). As for my game dev experience, I was a graphic designer for an indie game many years ago. Currently I'm working on a few projects that I figured out for myself, improving my skills and building my portfolio.

My art today
what I'm currently workong on
Since my art time is limited to a few hours after work and my mind is full of ideas, I can focus only on a few projects, this year they are:
-> Zodiac calendar - for a few year now I've been preparing a wall calendar with some photos, so this time I wanted my own art to be there, inspired by zodiac signs. Each month of 2026 I did the next page of the calendar, modyfing and adjusting the layout and also working on the zodiacs themselves. Right now I'm in my finishing phase for the whole project and preparing the calendar for 2027 - with a side quest of selling it somehow.
-> Poster Fair - in 2025 I attended my first Poster Fair - the art, the artsists, it all was amazing!. This project is now an ongoing process for me, because preparing a poster illustration takes me a lot of time. I have a few already lined up, but I want to create more.
-> Inktober story - I'm currently doing an inktober from 2019 - in that year I created a story based on the keywords, but never finished it. This time though it's going quite well and it has a comic form.
My destination
future projects
My time is limited, so some projects have to wait:
-> Animation X - I have a short story in my head, I'd like to put on paper and animate. I'm not sure how much work there is, but it somehow connected to the inktober story I'm doing, so I'm hoping that this experience will help to make this project happen.
-> Game X - since I went to DevGamm in 2026 and since I've been reading about making games, I want create one too!
-> Music art promotion - my side hobby is making music and for upcoming album I want to create cover arts for each songs that could serve as a T-shirt designs.
-> CD covers - I have a bunch of CDs with digital music recorded, so I want to re-create the cover arts for them, more of a cool side project and possible portoflio thing.
My journey
how did my art get here
As I've mentioned, I've never went to any art school. I didn't even think I'll want to be an artist. But what I do remember one my first art moments, is being a teenager and drawing inspired by music. I would pick a song and draw an illustration or even plan the whole animation.
But since I connected art with financial struggles, I didn't take that seriously. Not unitl year of 2016 when my friends and I took upon a Quest of making an indie web game. I was the one that - without any confidence - volunteered to take care of all the graphics. I'm not sure why I thought I can do it, at that point I was finished with my computer science University and already been working for a few years as a web programmer. Maybe art was my life?
With the help of a screen-less Wacom tablet (crazy times!) I tried to draw backgrounds, characters, items, UI stuff. It was a lot for me and I clearly lacked skill. What helped then was getting drawing lessons from a local artist, who became my mentor and who taught me a lot about drawing, and changed how I see the world from first lesson. It lasted a few months until I was ready to finish the learning part and had to just commit and do all the graphic elements we needed for the game.
The game wasn't a big financial success, so my relation to art and money stayed pretty much the same. And since I still had my full time job as a web programmer, making the jump to art was not something I would consider for a long time. I did a few inktobers, had a lot of fun with it. But then, COVID happened. And then the AI happened...
Once I saw people loving Midjourney's capabilities I was devastated. I couldn't stand hearing about how AI makes it possible for people to draw. After all these years I spent myself on becoming a better artist. Knitting a sweather helped - the break was much needed.
I took my time to rest and wait out the AI craziness and got back to drawing. In 2023 I was slowly coming back to art, and in 2024 I did a full inktober! It was the time of me taking another look at my headline on LinkedIn - 'future graphic designer for games'. I wasn't sure how to get there, but I knew I got to draw as much as I can.
In 2025 I got inspired my local Poster Fairs, by an Promised Land Art festival - basically by all the art that surrounded me. I wanted to have a set of posters too, for people to appreciate and buy. I've started drawing, meanhwile I figured I can prepare a wall calendar inspired by zodiac signs. Art challenges are still a big deal to me, I treat them as the time for practising - they provide a mix of freedom and pressure.
